Environmental ventilation in production: goal to reduce heat, fumes and stagnant dust
The design and sizing of environmental remediation solutions assume that the smoke cloud in production, generally stagnates at a height of 4 to 7 meters above the ground. Air flow helps normalize temperature during heating periods, preventing hot air from stagnating above. The other key points of any design are:
1) Always necessary air exchange
Whatever system is used, the legally required air exchange must be guaranteed, and in any case our systems never recirculate 100 percent but use 20 to 30 percent air taken from outside.
2) Teamwork with centralized systems or portable purifiers
The various remediation and general ventilation activities can rarely be used as a single solution and must be applied in conjunction with aspirations with localized capture near the source of pollution. Doing so results in complete remediation of the environment and significant energy savings.
3) Define: Air recirculation yes or no?
The relevant national legislation, Presidential Decree No. 303/56 on workplace hygiene, does not clearly state whether or not air recirculation is possible in workplaces.
Certainly in order to be able to suck in, filter and recirculate air inside a workshop where fumes and dust are present, it is necessary to carry out a remediation project using the best available technologies, and in any case it is not possible to recirculate in case very toxic pollutants are present.
4) Attention to energy conservation
The expulsion of air to the outside as is the case with classic exhaust systems involves an energy expense for heating the air that returns from the outside in the winter months. Recirculating air, on the other hand, saves heating costs.
